The Cottage Quilt Shop is owned and operated by Cynthia and Bill Shatzel. It is located in downtown Taylorsville at 100 S Center Street, which is 2 blocks south of Main Street (Hwy 90) and the Alexander County Court House. The Shop opened in April of 2008 and now has over 1800 bolts of name brand fabrics. We also have the largest collection of Fat Quarters in the area. There are unique gifts and gift ideas which Cynthia is happy to show you. We have expanded our hours and are now open six days per week. Monday - Friday 10:00AM to 5:00PM and Saturdays 10:00AM - 3:00PM.
We are now Dealers for Baby Lock Sewing, Embroidery, and Serging machines. We will not be undersold! Bring in a quote from another store on their letterhead and we'll beat their price. If you buy a Baby Lock from us you will get an additional 10% all in stock Baby Lock accessories and stabilizers each time you come back. If you haven't seen the Baby Lock Jet Air Sergers you owe it to yourself to come in for a free demonstration. There is a service and repair shop on site for our customers. We will service all makes of machines. We carry a wide range of machine feet, stabilzers, and sewing and quilting notions. Classes are offered and schedules are posted on page 2 (About Us) of this wed-site. We are a dealer for Handi Quilter also ,and have an Avante 18 Pro Stitcher. We offer not only classes but also rent time on the long arm machine for those who wish to do their own.
We're at it again. We have added new fabric to our line up. It keeps growing so please check with us to see our latest arrivals. We have started to upgrade the store and are in the process of starting a point of sale program. It will take several weeks and when we're done we will begin work on this site. We will be adding a shopping cart and you will be able to buy on-line starting this October. We'll also add a newsletter, class schedules etc,etc.
Cynthia has begun work on next years Block of the Month and I think everyone will be pleased. For our present block of the month customers you need to get your sashing, boarder, and backing materials soon while supplies last. We have been notified by Robert Kaufman that they are discontinuing some of the fabric. We have some so don't miss out.
We have some great classes coming up. The American Flag is coming up on September 9th along with the picnic quilt on September 16. They are both being taught by Susan Sweet. She's a great teacher and is full of knowledge and quilting tricks. You don't want to miss either of these classes! Call now and reserve your space.
